Join us for a lecture and discussion with Professor Daniel Weinstock (holder of the Katharine A. Pearson Chair in Civil Society and Public Policy at McGill University). Canada has gone further than most jurisdictions in legalizing assisted dying, expanding access beyond terminal illness to cases of chronic suffering and, controversially, mental illness. At a time when Parliament is considering The Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill, it is timely to consider what lessons, if any, Canada's experience of (MAiD) holds for the UK. Professor Weinstock, one of the leading thinkers on the medical ethics of assisted dying, is superbly positioned to offer such reflections.
