Autumn teaching
On this module, you'll explore how individuals learn and develop in the context of work and organisations. You'll examine theories of learning and skill development to understand how people learn, alongside theories of occupational choice to see how this applies throughout a career.
Key topics include:
- the psychological foundations of training and coaching
- evaluation of learning interventions
- the organisational perspective on succession planning, innovation and creativity
Learning takes place through workshops that combine lectures and interactive activities, creating a participative and inclusive environment. In addition to developing subject knowledge, you'll build transferable skills essential for university and the workplace, including:
- personal confidence
- teamwork and collaboration
- self-management
- independent learning.

Contact hours and workload
This module is approximately 150 hours of work. This breaks down into about 33 hours of contact time and about 117 hours of independent study. The University may make minor variations to the contact hours for operational reasons, including timetabling requirements.
We regularly review our modules to incorporate student feedback, staff expertise, as well as the latest research and teaching methodology.
